I've lived in Macon and I'm currently at GSU. The school is nice, but you really don't have the campus feel since it is so integrated with the city (it has both pros and cons). For a business student, GSU is awesome. Robinson is a great business school and a lot of potential employers recruit on campus. I take MARTA everyday and never had an issue. You will be asked for money quiet often but if you say "I don't have cash" they usually leave you alone. And a lot of homeless people are around the Five Points MARTA station but you can ignore them and keep walking.

When panhandlers approach me I put on my best spanish accent and say; "no habla ingles and keep it moving"!

LOL! I don't think that would work for me since I'm black! They will know that I'm lying!

I think I will use the "I don't have cash" line instead.

As far as it not having a campus feel, that will be fine with me. Actually going to a school with a campus is quite boring. It feels like you're trapped. But, that's just my opinion

Thanks for the advice!!!

That line works. I use it everyday, true or not. Judging by the fact that 80%of the customers use cards at the Subway next to GSU, it's safe to assume people really don't carry cash anymore. Bums don't have card swipers yet, so they'll take your word for it.

1. Do you think it will be hard for a small town girl like me to adjust to the big city?
- You either hate it or love it. You will have to decide that for yourself.

2. How is the on campus housing? Is it comfortable living there? How are the people? (People who have previously attended GSU/ or who knows someone who has lived there)
- Crowded with no parking. Expensive but it is comfortable. Been a while since ive toured the buildings though.

3. Are the homeless people on the street really that bad?
- Y.E.S.

4. How is downtown Atlanta in general?
- decent

5. Is Marta safe?
- yes. but not the actual stops. Trains are safe, platforms too.. but around the outside it really depends

University police does a good job diverting the homeless/panhandlers away from campus...now and then one does straggle into the area, but they don't hang around for very long. Five Points is the infamous panhandler-central.

You'll be fine.
