Everyone,

I would like to find a small event venue for a wedding reception in Oct '09. The church is downtown Atlanta so anywhere downtown, midtown or not too far from downtown would work. Looking for something inexpensive and where I can take my own food. A nice neighborhood clubhouse would work well...we are having no alcohol.

Please help!!

Downtown Norcross has a nice one - if you google "Flint Hill" it should come up. If you wanted to be in the city limits I would look at the Piedmont Room within the Park Tavern, I've been to events there and they were very nice.

I'm planning a wedding right now - this months issue of Atlanta Bride has a fairly comprehensive guide, though a lot of them are fairly pricey.

The SunTrust bank atrium will let you bring in your own food (with a copy of business license from the restaurant).
They were the most flexible of all of the places that I looked at.
It is in downtown on Peachtree St.

How big is your event? Flint Hill is beautiful but has a 100 person minimum on food and you can't bring your own. You could try the College Park Woman's Club, or the Solarium in Oakhurst. Both may be a little far out from your church but are nice venues. You could maybe rent a pavilion or the bandstand in Piedmont Park, if outdoors is an option and your reception is pretty small.

Oh, I just remembered: I went to a small reception at the Garden Hills Neighborhood Clubhouse a few years back - not sure if you have to be a member of their association or not to rent it, but that might be in the lines of what you're looking for. I hope this helps, good luck!
