considering the canton area. Heard they have very low property taxes and some of the best public school in the ATL area.

How true is the above info

Thanks

Decent schools, lower taxes than many other areas.

It's a fast growing area and mixed. Some transplants from elsewhere. Some native multi-generational southerners. Predominately white, conservative, middle-income, etc. etc.

Commute into the City isn't exactly pleasant though, as there is no suburb-to-city transit out there except for one express bus route. So if you already have a job lined up here you might want to investigate areas as close to it as possible.

Canton is located in Cherokee County.
I didn't see 'a lot' there--but I was just passing through.
To commute to Atlanta you would be traveling through/around Cobb County. Plenty of traffic.

If you're planning on moving here, please don't call it "the ATL"- that's gotten pretty annoying.....

That aside, Canton is a nice area- we live in Holly Springs, which is the small town next door, though we have a Canton mailing address. The school our daughters are in is excellent, IMO. Property taxes are pretty low- they work out to just over 1% of the sales price on a new home. Cherokee County in general was seeing some explosive growth in the past few years, which has slowed somewhat with the economy, but I think it'll start back up pretty quickly once the economy turns.

As stated above, the commute can be painful if you have to go into Atlanta for work. I work downtown, and my commute is about 45 minutes, but that's at 6am. For folks who work normal hours, it's more like 1.25 hours.
