Hi! I'm moving there and alone for working reasons and I will need to share a flat in:

1. A place near the airport, where my job will be
2. But far enough not to be hearing the planes land and take off when at home..... I don't want noise problems
3. A SAFE and hopefully familar area
4. I would feel kind of awkward in a district where I am in the ethnic minority, so (reasonably, I think) I would prefer to live if possible in a whitish area. Don't take me bad, I'm no way racist, I just prefer that

So.... what do you think?

How far are you willing to commute?

You might enjoy living closer to downtown/midtown Atlanta--off the top of my head.

There have been several threads recommending historic East Point. That might worth consideration.

Since my workplace is according to the company, not reachable by public transportation and i will HAVE to get a car.... It would be interesting to be out of traffic jams and hopefully clase to the airport area

Default Where?

East Atlanta Village area...go to eaca.net for info. Affordable, on the southside, and very cool.

Consider the Smyrna/Vinings area.
Specifically, these two interchanges along I-285 north of the Chattahoochee River - S. Atlanta Rd. and Paces Ferry Rd. It takes little over 20 minutes to get to the Airport from this area by taking 285 South to the Camp Creek Parkway Exit where you will head east into the Airport. You can also consider S. Cobb Dr. but it has a lot of older apartments which you might not feel as safe in. In the morning rush hour 285 South Bound moves, whereas 75/85, (the Downtown connector) is at crawl speed.

Hello and Welcome!

I recommend looking in these areas (based on your criteria):

1. Historic Downtown College Park
2. Historic Downtown East Point
3. Most of Hapeville

(all areas are very close to the airport)

All three areas offer cute/nice main streets, thriving/vibrant/improving downtown and historic districts, and quality housing.

*Note: For College Park and East Point I said "Historic Downtown" for a reason. Though other parts of both cities are very nice, many areas are still hit and miss. It's important for you to know this. If you someone will be assisting you, don't just say interested in "College Park" or "East Point"...you have to be specific to which parts (historic downtown!). For Hapeville, most of the city will suffice.

**Also, look into the Smyrna/Vinings/Mableton area. Close to the airport, everything you're looking for, and a little more suburban.

I hope this helps. Good Luck!
