Hi, my husband is getting transfered to Atlanta. I would be grateful for some suggestions on good areas to live. We would like to be within 30 miles south or east of Atlanta. We are looking for an area that offers good schools, low crime and higher in caucasion race. Thanks in advance.

Here in atlanta distance is not directly proportional to time !! Commute time is highly dependent on location, day of a week and even time of the day. So please post

which area in atlanta will your husband be working at?
Are you looking to buy or rent?
You mentioned neighborhood but What are your requirements in a house?
What is your budget?

Please post the above and somebody will definetly help you here ....

Communities east of Atlanta that might meet your criteria include Dacula, Loganville and areas north of Lawrenceville. Not the easiest commute to the city but many do it daily.

I think it goes without saying that this could be a can of worms due to the above, but I'll just go ahead and do the warning NOW. Don't go there, folks (and you know who you are sharping your mental knives already). I think while the wording may have been um, "off", the question was meant to be legit.

As someone else has said, navera, you need to list price ranges in order for folks to recommend specifics. As well as things like how far is the very maximum you're willing to commute into the city (is 30 miles it?), if you prefer a rural or urban setting, etc.

The fact is, if you're looking for a "predominately White" area, East and South will not be it unless you go to the Suburb of Peachtree City, South of the City. A planned City, with trails specifically designed for golf carts, as many residents there drive the carts around for daily errands. Within 30 miles of downtown Atlanta.

Other than that, if you want to settle for going NORTH, then you can hit either Kennesaw in NW metro Atlanta, or, straight North to Alpharetta as options. Again, more details as to the area of the city you'll be working in and price ranges would be helpful.

You'll find that there's no way in Atlanta to bring up any type of question that involves "color" that doesn't offend someone. But truth be told, the question isn't foreign in here. We have had people ask where to live that is predominately Jewish, Asian, Black, White, Hispanic, etc etc etc... if your request is sincere, don't worry about those who get offended - you're investing in a home and if you want a more homogeneous area or a mixed one, it's your investment and you have a right to ask it.

That being said, you still need to provide details, though. Budget, what area you'll be working in, if public transit is important or not, any recreational amenities you want in an area, etc etc etc.
