I'm totally, 100% opposed to Gay marriage. I'm totally, 100% opposed to a woman and a man marrying. I'm totally, 100% opposed to all marriage!
Read my bumper sticker: Ban marriage, imprison all violators!

I realize that lawyers have fallen on bad times as well. Many are unemployed.
I firmly believe it's not the Gay people behind this, it's the divorce attorneys.
Next step to drum up more business: marriage between pets.

I only have one thing to say on the subject, you know they get at least half your stuff when they run off and wed someone else don't you?

Very well put! BTW, this is a "litmus test" if I've ever seen one...especially in a gay mecca like Atlanta. The question isn't necessarily about what each candidate really thinks about gay marriage, but rather it's used as a gauge to determine the levels of tolerance and interest that each candidate has in regards to the gay community.

I mean, we live IN ATLANTA, where being gay is now the norm. It's not a big deal to me. As a matter of fact I don't even think it should be an issue for the Mayor. There are more important issues to tackle then this very simple one...lol

Admittedly I am still kinda squeamish on the issue of gay marriage, given my traditional Baptist upbringing. But if it's gonna happen, it's gonna happen I guess...

I don't even notice it anymore. I took my parents to the Botanical Gardens then to Ansley Mall to get ice cream. My Dad started looking around and was like, where have you brought us. It took me a minute to figure out what he was talking about :P

Of course the mayor can't get gay folks married. So in a way it is a non-issue. The reason it was asked was to gage just what the candidate thinks about gay folks and their issues. So saying civil unions automatically says that the candidate while not totally hating gay folks at the very least doesn't think their issues are as important as heterosexual ones. So the gay voter might not want to vote for him now the straight voter who thinks being gay is wrong might want to give him a try. At the very same time there are more important issues but I think the mayoral candidates opinion on the issue is important nonetheless. I don't know I don't live in Atlanta but hey I have an opinion anyways.

Um, Gays make up less than 15% of the City of Atlanta's population.

You missed the point...

People often exaggerate the numbers of a group (ethnic, racial, sexual, etc.) when they feel threatened or have prejudices.
