I am from Georgia, but have not lived there in a while. We have been told that urban crime is spreading to the burbs? Youth gangs and such in marrietta. Please respond and give me an update. I really would like to move back to GA.

Whether urban or somewhat suburban, please call us Atlantans, not "Atlantians".

It's true that crime is not confined to the city limits of Atlanta; it never really was, but Marietta covers a large area. Homes in East Cobb County (which borders Sandy Springs at the river) have a Marietta address, for example.

Do you plan to retire or work here?

I am planning to work there. I am from North Georgia-around rome. But have lived overseas and here in Florida for the past several years. I was looking at towns such as Dallas, Acworth, Kennesaw, Marrietta, and Alpharhetta to name a few. We have just heard talk that some of the youth gang crime is beginning to show up in suburban schools and the crime is spreading to those areas. Is that true? The crimes stats that I have looked up do not reflect that, but stast paint a different picture from real life. Thanks.

Sometimes, it is just tough tell what's going to happen in an Atlanta area. If safety is your top priority, you need to buy an established neighborhoods that has high resale value like East Cobb and Alpharatta.
