Hung out today in the very lovely Winnona Park neighborhood today. Noticed a lot of noise that sounded like commercial jets overhead. It was cloudy earlier in the day, so I didn't see much of anything. I was there again late this afternoon when it was bright and sunny, and still heard a lot of aircraft noise.

Never noticed this before. What gives?

It seems to happen when the wind is in a certain direction. I don't understand it fully either. It seems that once a week or so we are just on the flight path for some reason.

We just moved to N. Decatur and we notice the flight patterns alot - it's fairly distracting. It does have to do with the wind, but also time of day: it's worse between 8-10 AM and 6-8 PM (prime deck sitting time which kind of sucks). And we've noticed it most days of the week. There's some talk of it within this thread on the DecaturMetro blog: Decatur Metro » The Problem With Late-Night Bocce
