"They" who? It's always black leadership being corrupt in Atlanta, isn't it?
Maynard Jackson wasn't just black, he was a great mayor and great leader for Atlanta. White AND black residents see him that way, and his name was added to the airport in recognition of his contributions and commitment to the city of Atlanta - not because he was black. I personally didn't agree with adding Jackson's name to the airport title because it seems to diminish the honor given to Hartsfield - who was also a very accomplished leader for Atlanta...and because it makes the name of the airport ridiculously long.

What it boils down to, is that when a facility - any facility - is named, it should be named and left alone . Stop tagging add-on names to it as time goes on and the mood is there by current leaders. It belittles the person for whom the facility was originally named after, and frankly, gets confusing to visitors and residents alike after time.

Instead of naming a terminal for a guy whose name is already on the airport (although I have never heard anyone call it Hartsfield-Jackson except official airport announcements), they should sell the naming rights to the concourses/terminals. Atlanta needs money and I am sure the millions of people who pass through the airport represent an audience that companies would love to market to.
