Hi there! I am moving down there and have accepted a job in Douglasville! I just want to get some information about the area and what to expect. I am from a small town in upstate NY so I know there will be a big difference (I have lived in Gainesville fl, Anchorage AK and Dublin Ireland so Im used to moving around and to being in cities!) Although I do not want to be living ini a big city which is why I chose not to live in Atlanta itself!

Im looking to find out what people think are the best apt complexes im willing to spend 600$ a month on rent. What should I expect for electric bills, cable/internet bills, I am going to need to register and switch my plates and insurance there how much should I expect for that? (2001 Chevy Cavalier)

Im a single white female who will be living alone so I want somewhere I can feel safe a secure and not worry about rapes, theft, breakins, and the like.

I hope someone out there in cyber land can help me out! and I thank all of you who answer me in advance!

I don't know any specific complexes to recommend but Douglasville would be fine. I pay about $70 a month for utilities on a one bedroom apartment but I also do great at not running the air conditioning too much in the summer or the heat too much in the winter. I know people who pay up to $150 a month for a one bedroom in just electric costs in the summer because of air conditioning costs. Cable TV and Internet is about an extra $115 (I think). There are always specials going on though to help lower it. For your car you'll have to pay a emissions fee of $20, a tag fee of $20 and the Ad Valorem tax. The Ad Valorem tax is going to depend on what specific model Cavalier you have and where you end up living. It looks like between $45 and $65 though and it will go down as the car gets older (its an annual fee).
