I'm just curious to see what the #'s are in here. I do NOT want to turn this into a race pissing match, I'd just like to see the diversity of our members on this forum.

Post up! Feel free to post where you came from if you'd like, after you vote. I apologize if I missed your background on the poll list. I'll put "other" as an option for those I forgot.

I sometimes look @ profiles to see if I can find out any background info which will help me to determine what perspective the poster maybe coming from when he/she makes a post, sometimes it's not even a question of race, but rather 'is this person male or female?'

I wish more of the regulars around here would fill out their profiles... case in point, I am going to pick on the guy who just posted above me here in this thread - WaronXmas.

I was reading posts in another thread aloud to my hsbnd during commercial breaks the other night. I read a post by 'WaronXmas' and my husband said: 'Coming from a white guy, that's kinda surprising.' I said, "Huh? WaronXmas is a black guy." My husband said, "Yeah right, and my name is Rush Limbaugh. 'War on Christmas' is a FoxNews Bill O'Reilly rant." [Obviously making the assumption O'Reilly Fan=white guy.] I said, "Maybe he was trying to be ironic when he chose his screen name, I don't know, but I do know this guy is black, he's a regular on the boards." Hsbnd: "Prove it, where does he say he's black?" I checked WaronXmas' profile, no info, I scanned posts he'd made in the thread we were discussing, no specifc references. My hsbnd took the opportunity to, jokingly, act like I must be a bit wacko... a couple days later I ran across a post where WaronXmas says he graduated from a HBCU - Thank You! But a little too late, grr!

LOL... not the end of the world, obviously, but sometimes knowing the perspective someone is coming from, the lens thru which he/she views the world, really helps one understand the context of a post.... othertimes this info is irrevelant, obviously.
