My husband will be working in Conyers, GA. I don't know anything about this area or school district. I have an autistic son who will be seen at Marcus Autism Center in Atlanta. Is there a good geographic location to live other than Conyers and where my husband does not have an insane commute to Conyers?

Suggestions are welcome. I found services for my son in the Alpharetta area but that looks like a crazy commute unless there's a place somewhere in the middle where we could live.

TIA!

Locations & Directions - Marcus Autism Center

The center is located on Briarcliff Rd, correct?

You might consider living in the 30033 zip code area/North DeKalb Mall/DeKalb Medical Center. The commute to Conyers wouldn't be without challenges. I285 to I 20. The center should be 10-15 minutes from this area.

Alpharetta would be close to impossible for a commute to Conyers, jmo.

Thank you. I think you are correct. Ugh....How about Duluth from Conyers? Has anyone ever done that?

Edit: Am considering Decatur also. We are in our 30s with 2 small children under 5. Are there good areas in Decatur to live and affordable. We are looking for a rental home with at least 3 bedrooms in the price range of 1100-1500 a month and a little yard is a must or a nice park nearby.

Any suggestions for good rental managements in that area?

TIA!

It wouldn't be good--I think it would involve the heavily traveled 316. Somewhat better than Alpharetta.

Conyers is on the east side. Theoretically you might consider Lilburn, Snellville and other places that escape me at the moment. You would then have quite a drive to the Marcus Center.

Thank you so much for your input I really appreciate it. So Decatur would probably the best option for our family. We don't want to end up in a bad area.

Others may have suggestions. I don't know a lot about Conyers. Like many other areas there seem to be better and worse parts. The North Decatur area would get my vote because of the proximity to the Marcus Center.

ETA: I couldn't find the thread I wanted but you might get some ideas from this one. Tucker is another option --about 10 minutes east of North Decatur. I believe the commute would still be I285 to I 20/Conyers. It seems like there is an alternative route but I'm not that familiar with the area--something involving roads near Stone Mountain--Conyers is not far.

Tucker is close to Stone Mountain, Lilburn and Snellville.
Which Area to Move to around Tucker?
