Resetting my radio the other day, I hardly heard any country.

My biggest complaint is that they synchronize their commercials. You get 5 or 6 minutes without music on all the rock/pop stations, 94.1, 96.1, 97.9, 98.5, 100.5, 105.7. 105.7 used to have a different cycle, but they must have gotten acquired.

Yes, I have noticed this too. All the stations seem to be on commercial at the same time with some having longer ad time than others. It's very annoying when you want to find one that is playing music now.

Still wish we had a good Southern Gospel station like they have in the Augusta Metro. That would make me MUCH happier! ;0)

The OP posted in 2009. I'd imagine with services like Pandora and Spotify, the issue of the "worst" radio stations (in OP's opinion) is largely negated. Still, I get that sometimes it's just nice to turn the radio dial old school.

87.7 was the best thing to happen in Atlanta radio for years so predictably they switched format from Old School to a mix of hits that are already done MUCH better on Kiss 104.1 and Majic 107.5.....such a shame.

It is. Even during the day sometimes too.

ATL Radio used to be legendary. WKLS (96 Rock) was one of the better mainstream rockers in the nation, and let's not forget the "original" 99X (at 99.7fm) was one of most influential alternative stations in the nation. WREK was one of the few 100,000 watt college stations in the country & they were format leaders. Star 94 has given us some famous on air talent, including Ryan Seacrest. And lest we forget 750 WSB.

Now, the radio dial is a wasteland of Urban, Country & Pop. Atlanta radio does indeed suck. And people wonder why radio is dying....

I guess it's all a matter of taste.

I mainly listen to old school R&B / Soul / Hip-Hop, so Atlanta's radio is pretty awesome to me (compared to other cities). But I can't speak on Rock or Country, since I don't listen to it.

Our 2 college stations are really the best.

I’ll say that hip hop and r&b options are some of the best of any city too.
