Hi All,

My partner and I are thinking of making an offer on a house in Medlock Park - close by to the elementary. We are parents-to-be, and want to be in a school system wherein our little off-spring won't feel strange about his or her two mommies. I know Medlock is a Decatur address, and just north of Decatur proper (notoriously gay-friendly, but also out of our <260k price-range), I'm just not sure if Medlock Park is as open to "alternative" parents...

Does anyone have any insight into this? If so, it would be much appreciated!

Thanks a bunch,
Lisa

You shouldn't have a problem at all. Any of the neighborhoods that abut Emory University are known to be liberal and gay-friendly.

We are considering that neighborhood too and we would be friends with you

Would love to hear others' opinions on it and the school too.

Thanks for the replies!! Kattykay, if we end up in Medlock - let's plan a neighborhood walk! Any other thoughts out there?

My partner and I own a home in Medlock Park (we bought in the neighborhood about 3 years ago). We feel so blessed to have WONDERFUL neighbors who have become some of our best friends. We are in our late 20's and early 30's...and are looking forward to sharing in the experience of having and raising children. Our sexuality has never seemed to be an issue. A smile and nice "hello" gets further in Medlock than anything else. Everyone is pretty nice and is really looking for other nice people...,sexuality really does not enter into the situation. Hope you made your offer and are moving in soon...welcome to the neighborhood!!!!
