It's because black people will notice more white people and white people will notice more black people.

it's because we have people coming into the Idaho forum and posting "Is Idaho really that white?". Could be an honest question...could be someone race-baiting, but it's hard to know. So I'm guessing that Trace posted here to see if he would get regular responses or a flurry of flaming. From the looks of it, you all took it as a serious question, although some of you were (rightly) wondering the motivation for his question.

here in Idaho we deal with the issue of a small handful of Aryan Nation racists who were run out of here over a decade ago but it's still affecting people's misperceptions of North idaho as a "haven for neo-nazis" when in fact where I lived and worked in Socal had exponentially more racism and racial tension, and up here while we don't have racial diversity (it IS 99% white), we DO NOT have issues with racism like ANY US metro area I've ever visited, and people are "just folks" here...

Why are you so concerned? Atlanta, a major world-international city, is lucky to have this signature cultural feature...very unique on the world/international stage (even though many Americans cannot appreciate it).

Atlanta is a great place for all types of people...White, Black, Latino, Asian, Indian, Internationals...

Also one of the most crime ridden places . And looks more like third world every time i visit .

I know the truth here makes some mad, but no sense in lying to be PC .

Who ran them out, The Black Panthers ? Maybe NAACP ? Or NOI which is mostly black.

There are hate groups in all races . The white supremist are evil but no more so than the black, latino supremist . Hate is hate no matter who is involved .

First, you have to distinguish between the City of Atlanta, which is 1/10 of the population of the metro area, and the Atlanta metro area. The City of Atlanta has dealt with budget cuts and some crime issues, but if you look at the statistics, it's not even in the top 10 of most dangerous cities for 2008 or 2007.

No, but Atlanta is # 16. Also Georgia is 16, 36, 71, 96, 121, 229, and 321 out of 385.

Worse then Little Rock, Phili, and Orlando.

Right, but the City of Atlanta has always been up there in the stats for crimes. It was that way when I lived here in the 1980s, so much so that most of the white suburban folks never came downtown for anything other than games at Fulton County Stadium and Hawks games or concerts at the Omni. Most people didn't come to Atlanta after dark, other than Buckhead.

Then why post a list trying to show it's not bad with crime?

Well that is not the case in 2009 in Atlanta. I live intown and there are huge numbers of whites and other groups here. I certainly don't feel like a minority (and in many intown neighborhoods I don't believe its majority african americans) but I am also not caught up in race so it doesn't really matter to me. And living in town, trust me white suburban folks come in to town all the time to enjoy the city.
