I haven't been over that way in years, but I'm actually surprised they don't already have a Whole Paycheck!

This location for Whole Foods will practically be a permit to print money.

True, but the area has had a Fresh Market for a very long time...Whole Food may have been wary of competition...and there really wasn't too many available areas to put a Whole Foods...this Wholes Food is actually going where there use to be Media Play...

And the area has the only stand-alone Sears in the Metro Area...

I wonder if this will essentially be a move from the Harry's in Marietta, which is exactly what they did in Duluth. Its also similar in that the Harry's is not in an ideal location to serve their market.

Interesting...the Sandy Springs locations of Whole Foods and Trader Joe's are within a mile of each other(on the same road). In East Cobb, Merchants Walk is basically across the street from TJ's at that intersection. It's the old 'Home Depot facing the Lowe's entrance' strategy applied to the grocery business. Hmmm....

When I moved to Atlanta in 1980, Merchants Walk was a higher-end specialty center with a few larger 'anchor' tenants. It was darned near the last commercial development as you went out Johnson Ferry. It has been through quite a transformation over the past 30 years. Amazing what adding a couple million folks to the population can do to the landscape. Sure hasn't made entering and exiting the shopping center any easier.
