I'm curious as to where you are hearing about all of the "crimes" being committed on Georgia State campus? It's a big city, so I'm sure there are incidents now and then, but it's a relatively safe campus. I was there for two years in both day and night classes, and never even felt threatened in any way. I never even heard or read about any crimes while I was there. Actually, I haven't heard about any on the news other than at Georgia Tech and Atlanta University Center.

I just think it's silly to frighten people who ask these question when it definitely isn't necessary.

Ask some of the students that have been there and are willing to talk about it. Most of the ones that were victims (like myself) left. The GSU police do not care. Besides... you said you went to Georgia State not GSU which is in Athens... they have top flight campus police. It's not about scaring people, it's about being REAL... HONEST!! It's not necessary to lie either. Females are mose vulnerable to attacks than males... You probably look threatening to most people. Think reality... know reality.

If you were the president of GSU... would you make public the major crimes that happen on your campus? No... you have an image to protect and that's all GSU is about. Oh... furthermore... I can name some of GSU's Police Officers that will attest to all I am speaking of... Thank you very much

I went to GSU, or Georgia State University. So I don't need to ask anyone else, I'm speaking from personal experience.

Females and males alike should use the security escorts that are offered at GSU - they should really use them on ANY campus, whether it's downtown or in the suburbs.

Okay...name those officers. I will look into it personally, because I don't believe you. You may have had an incident, but that doesn't mean the campus is unsafe - and you really shouldn't go around saying such things that aren't true.

I realize Underground is next to campus...but there is no need to be there unless you want to be. I used to eat lunch at Underground often while I was on campus, and it wasn't awful to me.

SOme safety tips my Mom taught me when we moved to Atlanta,

1. Meet a friend that can walk with you
2. IF listening to music when walking always keep ONE earphone out so you can hear whats going on at all times
3. Look back about every 30 steps so you know who is walking behind you.
4. DO NOT answer any one that asks you for money or anything just walk away
5. WALK FAST, dont run, walk fast
6. Keep some type of weapon, pepperspray, sharp pen or pencil, heavy bookbag or even pocket knife cause you'll never no what will happen
6.5 If someone forces you to stop put your hands in your pocket and reach for your weapon try and intimidate the person before violence, Do not show fear.
7. Be careful and Alert at all times have cell phone ready.

FOllow these rules and you should be okay. GSU is great, the police are helpful and well If you show that you are not scared people tend not to do anything to you.

It sounds like sour grapes from someone who probably got fired.

Take advantage of what the GSU police offers and you shouldn't have any problems. Georgia State University - Welcome to University Police

To address your comment... No baby I did'nt get fired I got assaulted and nearly raped by a coworker when I was there and I sued the University... Anything else? Speak on facts baby, not on BS! Thank you very much *S*

Getting assaulted by a coworker has nothing to do with the safety of GSU at night, so I'm glad you cleared that up for everyone.

First of all, I am speaking on facts, but obviously you know more than anyone else in Atlanta. Who are you that I need to name these officers? Hell you act as if you know so much why don't you tell me. Be the GSU spokesperson. You must get free tuition and trying to save that horrible reputtaion. Yeah it's a good school and all, but it's not as safe as you want to make it be. When did you go to GSU? have you been there lately? I bet you have'nt. To end this with you, I can care less if you believe me or not, I don't have to lie about being assaulted... would you like to see the brutal pictures?! The doctors records?

I'm pretty sure any parent would give a child that advice when moving to a big city. Why are you so intent on painting a false picture of Atlanta?
