I remember both of those things, along with Burt's Place (Burt Reynolds' club) and Reggie's Pub. The Omni was quite the happening place in those days.
Looonnng time ago...back when I had a poster of Steve Bartkowski on the wall of my dorm room.

I had the same poster. I also had Farah's poster as well just to answer any inappropriate questions that may arise

I also had some Flames posters too, Guy Chouinard was my favorite. To this day, I still have probably attended more Flames games than any other pro team save the Braves.

Okay, random question..but I did not know Atlanta had a hockey team pre-Thrashers (showing my age, I know :-)...but any hoo, just looked them up and found they were named after General Sherman. Is it odd they'd name a city's pro team after the person who burned the city down?

I'm sure that you and I had that Bartkowski poster up for very different reasons, SM.

I don't remember that, I remember it being a public contest and some woman getting a prize for submitting the name Flames. Atlanta's symbol of the Phoenix rising from the flames might have had some kind of connection, but Sherman's burning of Atlanta was never mentioned and I was a big fan of the Flames.

I did get quite a commotion from gay friends at college in AL when I wore my flames jersey, "You aren't serious, the ATLANTA FLAMES!!! That's hysterical!" and so forth.

I remember the Omni ice skating rink. I took ice skating lessons at Parkaire Mall back in the late 70's (inspired by Dorothy Hamill: "Short & Sassy").

I've often wondered if I dreamed up that Sid & Marty Kroft World; it seems like a weird hallucination (as did all their shows, BTW!), but I'm pretty sure I went to that as well.

It had that ridiculously long escalator...we called it "The Stairway to Heaven."
