I'll be visiting the north Atlanta suburbs soon.

Can someone tell me about Cumming and Buford?

How is the shopping?

Is it mostly new?

How are the schools and crime?

Thanks

Hi! How are you? Okay well, Cumming is a very cool city, alot to do, compared to Dahlonega anyways, and not much crime. Though, Buford is more of a higher class city, with more crime.
The schools are usually very good, depending on where you are going to be staying. And yes, it is mostly new.

The North Georgia Premium Outlets are not far from Cumming, near Dawsonville--all the usual high end store outlets. There is PLENTY of shopping at exit 13 and exit 14--all the big chain stores. I believe the schools are mostly very good, but haven't checked any specifically (no kids). Go to greatschools.net and also ajc.com to check them out. Lot of newer homes there at very good prices compared to other places.

I've only been to Buford once and the downtown seemed very small. Maybe I missed something?

I personally think Cumming is a bit nicer than Buford, thats just my opinion. There is also a newer Avenues shopping village off exit 13 which is really nice, and has alot of good restaurants and your popular clothing stores as well.

Ditto, on Cumming being a nicer place to live than Buford and the schools are better in Cumming too. There is plenty of shopping in Cumming, though Buford does have more, but it's a 10 min. drive so it's easy to live in Cumming and drive to Buford. There is little crime in Cumming. It's a very safe place to live.

It would probably take you around 45 mins. (maybe a little less), but I wouldn't leave too much after 6am or it will take you much longer since traffic on 400 tends to build quickly after that.
