I am keen to know which movies were shot in Atlanta and whereabouts they were in Atlanta.

Also are there any documentaries or videos you can buy or download from the web? I have been watching some interesting YouTube videos of guys driving around but that's it so far...

There have been a few threads on this--I'll take a look for you and see what I can find.

Here's a thread that's pretty interesting---'Metro Atlanta'/Newnan. The movie that was shot there last spring/fall?? should be a good one. Bill Murray and company---'Get Low'--due out this spring according to 'sources'.

I know this will be a good one--Bill Murray will always come through, jmo. I lol because I know someone who is possibly related to the main character and have always suspected he was something like Bill Murray--'Caddyshack', 'Groundhog Day', 'Lost in Translation'--you don't even try to understand him ---just lol and shake your head.

But, yes, filmmaking has been going on in ATL and Georgia.

Previous 'Film in Atlanta' threads>>>>

LOL--I am a 'native' and have to mention 'The Film/Book'--which is of course 'GWTW'---shot around Jonesboro--is that correct history/film experts? Quite the 'moment' in Atlanta history when David O'Selznick and Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable came to town ???1939??? for the premiere at the Loew's. When I was 13--around 1960 something there was an anniversary showing and my parents took me to the Fox Theater--our most historic theater, as far as I know and I certainly don't know as much as some do about Atlanta, and it was 'Something'.

If you like film/arts--take a tour of the Fox Theater.

Stomp and Stammer magazine (which you can find for free at area record stores and bars) has a new column about films and tv shows that are in production in the area.

Here's my list-

1) "Sharky's Machine" (from the early 80's ) starring Burt Reynolds.
Shot in downtown Atlanta and Mid-Town area (if my memory serves me right)

2) "The Adventures of Occie Nash" (? spelling ) . A sweet film set at the turn of the century era ( a long the lines of Anne of Green Gables ). Shot in Grant Park and Buckhead.

3)"Driving Miss Daisey" shot in Decatur (Lullwater Drive area ), and Newnan.

4) " Sweet Home Alabama " Peachtree City and Fayetteville.

5) "Fried Green Tomatos " Fayetteville, Conyers, Senoia .

I'll post more s I think of them.

The Blind Side used Westminster and Atlanta International School for some scenes.

Agnes Scott College is popular with film makers. Movies shot there:

The Four Seasons (1981)

A Simple Twist of Fate (1994)

Driving Miss Daisy (1989)

Scream 2 (1997)

www.imdb.com/title/tt0101921/

among others. IMDB lists 22 films that were shot there.

Here are some more that I thought of -

1) "Little Darlings " filmed in 1980. Buckhead and Hard Labor Creek State Park. If I remember correctly, this film had some nice shots of the exterior of the Swan House that is apart of The Atlanta Historical Society's grounds.

2)" Remember The Titan's " filmed in 2000. Decatur and other locals in North Fulton county .

3) " We Are Marshall" filmed 2006. Decatur

Swan House was also Sydney Biddle Barrows' grandmother's house in Mayflower Madam.
