Hi all,

I knwo all about Rooms to Go, Haverty's, etc... but I was hoping someone could tell me where to shop for modern/ contemporary furniture not necessarily on the cheap, but within a reasonable budget. Any websites would work too. Thanks for all the help.

By Design, on Cheshire Bridge Rd: http://www.bydesignfurniture.com/

Room & Board, in Midtown West: http://www.roomandboard.com/rnb/

That should get you started.

I second Room & Board.
How about Ikea?
Also try;
Scandinavian Designs - Home Furniture (http://www.scandinaviandesigns.com/home/furniture - broken link)

Ikea? They make nice furniture, but you get what you pay for. Designs are nice, but quality is garbage. I'd look at spending a bit more, to get more. The other suggestions are worth a try.

That's my big concern. I really want quality, but the idea of paying $300 for an end table horrifies me. LOL!

Head over to the Westside around Huff Road and on surrounding streets. There are a ton of great furniture places over there (including the new Room & Board which is on Howell Mill near Huff Rd).

My DH was talking about By Design the other day and said while some of the pieces there are good quality and the prices good, there are some quality issues with a lot of what they offer. If you shop there, I would take somebody that knows what to look for in well-constructed furniture.

Check out the furniture district off 85 between 285 and Jimmy Carter. Stylus usually has nice stuff and you can haggle with almost all of the shops there.

Ikea's all wood (non laminate particle board) stuff is actually decent quality.

Yeah near Stylus is By Design and Bolva (I think thats the spelling) and about 10 other stores all along this side road that should hopefully help you out. I have a few pieces from By Design and I have never thought of them having bad quality, they are pricey for sure but it's always you get what you pay for, in the back they have a dicounted area also.
