Besides widespread panic.
Does Atlanta have salt spreaders?
How about the cities such as Alpharetta? My son is scheduled to work on Old Milton tomorrow from 4-7. He's had no experience driving in anything more than rain, and I am hoping for some idea of what the conditions might be like if we get an inch or so.

Seriously, it probably won't be that bad (1993 was an exceptional year for snow in Atlanta). We'll probably get one to two inches which will be gone by Friday. But in preparation for "Storm Watch 2010" every grocery store in town will be out of milk, bread, eggs, and water like we're going to be snowed in for two weeks. I might join them and get a nice bottle of wine instead.

I will say this - the first snowfall of the season, and I'm talking about in northern cities such as Boston, result in the most accidents and worst road conditions, because of the lack of salt and sand on the roads. Even if the storm produces an inch or two, the first storm is usually the worst in this regard. Spinouts, multi-car crashes, etc. will be the norm.

Yes, there are some. In the past they have brought in additional trucks from surrounding towns and states. They usually treat the bridges, but leave the roads alone.
I have no idea what, if anything, they are planning to do in preparation for tomorrow's predicted storm.

Oh, they will. Count on it.
I remember in high school we got a day off for snow and it was in the high '60s by lunchtime. That must've been '90 or '91.
