What does the future hold for Atlanta's skyline? What will happen once the recession blows over and buisness is booming again?

Hopefully 50 Allen Plaza and the Mandarin Oriental hotel get off the ground.

The Mandarin Oriental will definately change the skyline for Midtown. It's supposed to be 53 stories.

Recession or no recession things are changing. Midtown has at least 5 new high rises since the recession started in December 2007.

I see more changes happening for skyline of the edge cities of Atlanta (Perimeter, Cumberland) over the next 20 years vs Atlanta itself. However, I expect more dense mid-rise development, especially housing, in Atlanta. I don't expect a significant amount of centralized commercial development - that will probably be spread out through the metro. A corridor that may see a significant amount of high-density residential development (and maybe even some commercial) is the Marietta Street / Marietta Blvd corridor.

Please add to that existing thread instead which can be found here: //www.city-data.com/forum/atlan...ine-store.html
