Hosting a World Cup is attributed to a country not a city as has been stated on earlier posts. Yes, it is true that it would give the city exposure, but it will not be the opportunity magnet some imagine to be. It will not bring long term employment opportunities, it will not increase property value, it will not necessarily have the city mobilize itself to improve public transportation. I stand corrected, maybe it would being that 2022 is the next bid, so the city would have time to materialize projects that are looking good on paper and are announced on the AJC. We, the U.S.A. hosted the World Cup before in 1994, being that Ga does not have an MLS team, I doubt that the local populace will be much interested. But then again who knows, the demographics may change dramatically in 10-12 yrs. Keep in mind that exposure can bring good and bad, let us not forget the Olympics in 1996.
