Any lawyers out there that are familiar with teacher employment contracts? This a*hole Purdue wants to take additonal days away from us, which results in a lot of money lost. Enough is enough with this state...

I know, I know, messaging on here is not formal writing. But if you're going to identify yourself as a teacher, think about how you're contributing to the image of your profession.

I am a teacher and my husband is an attorney. I don't think legally we have any course of action or he would have said something. My understanding is our contract has a clause in it for this type of thing- as I believe most employment contracts do.

But my husband is a traffic/personal injury attorney so its not his area of speciality so I might be incorrect.

I would also think PAGE would step in if legally there was anything that could be done.

Its just how our economy is right now- we are not the only ones effected. I am sure the police officers and fireman feel the same way- there job is too important to be taking furloughs. But I don't constantly hear them complaining.

I believe we as teachers have to just except it. Why should we as opposed to any other service worker be immune from furloughs? It sucks- but it sucks for everybody, not just teachers.

3 days off is a lot better than 365 off like some people are having to do. if that is all it takes for you to quit, then you should not be a teacher in the first place!!

I agree, any teacher who honestly feels this way is in the profession for the wrong reason.

Sorry, I feel obliged to be an equal-opportunity pedant. Try "...just have to accept it."

I do think the content of your message was very sensible.

I will agree with mikepayne. Furlough days are better than losing your job altogether. Count your blessings and quit complaining.
