Can't find the answer on MARTA's website, but it makes it sound as if transfers are free/included in the cost of a "one-way" trip. However, when I use my breeze card after having exited a train and boarded a bus, it uses another one of my trips. So, how do you transfer from train-to-bus or vice versa with a breeze card and not incur another $2 charge?

You have too tap out the gate to get the transfer put on there and then tap to the bus

That's right. A lot of people neglect (or don't know) to 're-tap' their Breeze Card upon exiting the rail station in order to get the bus transfer added.

Make sure when you tap leaving the train station, it says transfer and the time that the transfer expires on the screen.

Then, when you get on the bus, you will use your transfer and not another trip.

OK...so I tap once to get out and open the gates and then immediately tap it again to get the transfer on there?

No, once you tap, you get an automatic transfer.

when you going the gate, tap, transfer is applied.

if you never tap, no transfer is applied...

But that's what I did - I tapped when leaving the train station but then when I entered the bus 5 minutes later and tapped to enter the bus, it deducted another ride...

Here's the page on the MARTA site where you can read about how transfers work:
MARTA > Using MARTA > How to Ride MARTA

Here's the exact text from the page:

"Exit to destination or transfer. Tap the blue target with your Breeze Card or Ticket to exit the train station. You may transfer for free by tapping again immediately on the bus or at the station at your point of exit."

I post this to make sure it's understood that LovinDecatur's post is correct. Tap twice when exiting the train station be able to transfer to a bus.

You tap twice.

Once to enter the station and once to leave. The gates won't open, if you don't tap out unless you piggyback.

stepinsc, you have a paper or plastic card? Like I said, make sure the sign says transfer and the time expired before you leave.
