Anybody know what's going on with the old Home Depot Building on Sidney Marcus- behind the QT?

So far it's getting a new facade and it has an addition where the garden section use to be. But there are no signs- other than the construction firm.

Yep, it's a huge new furniture store out of Virginia Beach called The Dump.

I just went by there on Monday, and they are doing some pretty extensive work - that's for sure. I'm really glad it won't be sitting vacant there any longer!

The Dump

What a great enhancement that will be to Lindbergh Center.

Yes, it's good to see that someone is using an empty "big box". But, the concept is nothing new. There used to be a place off of DeFoors Fry/Chattahoochee Ind area that was the exact samething. 3 days a week (Mon-Thurs was "for the trade"), overstocks, overuns, one-of-a-kinds, prototypes, etc.- don't remember the name (I'm sure someone will chime in with a name). Just remember- the merry-go-round, and a fairly good size antique car collection (all for sale)- because it was out of place with the furniture.

I also find it odd that a furniture store would try to expand into an area that has been one of the hardest hit by the housing slump- furniture stores ride the same wave as housing.

I give 'em 18months!

Good points.

Are you remembering Baron's or something similar? I do remember that place.

I honestly thought this old Home Depot would be taken for the fly-over ramps to connect 400 with 85 North one day........

I do hope they make it longer than 18 months, though.
