My brother is gay is a very active in the so-called gay "bear" community and I can't begin to count the number of times he and his friends had mention that America's top "bear" city is..Indianapolis !!! Maybe it is because Indianapolis is more willing to accept a gay man who is overweight and looks more like Toby Keith than sombody on Will & Grace or perhaps Indy has more "bear-owned" businesses than other cities...my brother never was clear about, well why Indianapolis?
Because its cold.....?lol

I'd rather have a bunch of gay folks living next door to me than gang bangers or redneck gun fanatics. Worst case is you have a well dressed and stylishly furnished bunch of neighbors. (J/K)

If the worst thing about someone is they want to love someone else, then I can deal with them. There are many others out there who are straight and only want to cause mayhem.

Yes, Atlanta is often referred to as GayTL instead of ATL. I don’t know what it is about Atlanta that attracts so many gays but even RuPaul said that he visited Atlanta for the first time back in the 70’s and instantly knew that he intended to make Atlanta his new home based on it’s gay-friendly vibe and apparent gay presence. I can say from personal experience that Atlanta is definitely the gayest city that I’ve ever visited. I’ve often heard people refer to Lenox Mall as the “gay mall” which is a bit ridiculous in my opinion, but there is a noticeable up-tick in gay men that frequent that mall; especially on the weekends! We’re not even going to discuss Piedmont Park, Midtown, Buford Hwy etc. What’s most interesting to me is visibly noticing how unmoved the straight residents seem to be. It’s nowhere near as much of an issue as you’d expect; people really don’t care.

They really dont care. I guess they have gotten so used to seeing it. Largest Black Gay pride is coming up which supposed to bring in 80,000 gay african americans to celebrate doing labor day weekend.. right after that is the annual gay pride..

Atlanta's huge gay population can be attributed to the southeast being very heavily populated and it being an easy transition from other parts of the south.

Just adding up the populations of surrounding states, 13-14 million people in the Carolinas, Florida has 20 million people, and Tenn and the rest of the deep south, and it's no wonder.

Plus, Atlanta is the really the only city in the south that gays can be completely open and vocal.
