I'm considering taking a job with Delta airlines in the near future. I will be moving from Minneapolis, and from a similar job with another airline. I will be moving with my girlfriend, no pets, and few belongings. I am a 22 yo, 2 years out of college, with a bachelors degree in Finance, a car I'm making payments on, a passion for photography, rock climbing, and travel (convenient to work for an airline)

1. Budget
The two of us would like to spend no more than $1100 for basic rent, $100 for cable/internet, and a normal amount for heat/AC/elec/water/sewage
2. House/Condo/Townhome?
Renting an apartment, non-negotiable
3. Employment Status(commute/work from home)
I will be commuting to Delta Headquarters near the airport. My girlfriend is unsure of what she'll be doing for employment, but she is a student coordinator at a large university currently.
4. Children(public school vs. private)
0 children, hopefully 0 on the way for a long time
5. Suburban or Urban lifestyle preference or a mix of the two
Urban, 100%, I like having access to all sorts of things. But I also enjoy parks and recreation being right by me (Had been looking at piedmont park)
6. Easy access to public transit, important or not?
Important, but not supremely so. We both have automobiles, but would prefer to not use them if possible on daily errands.
7. Preferable demographics of desired neighborhood.
Safe, immediately accessible parks/recreation. Preferably young, open-minded, active. I don't like loud bars/clubs, but prefer to drink at quiet taverns/pubs.

I'd be happy to share anything else if it would help you guys

I think that Midtown would be your best bet. I would be good for pretty much all of your answers. Virginia Highlands would be a good area to look at too, but Midtown does give very easy access to MARTA that goes right into the airport.

It is also very close to Piedmont Park. Georgia Tech is right on the other side of the freeway.

With your budget you can easily find a nice one-bedroom apt.(I'm assuming you want a one bdrm?) I agree with Archan, midtown is your best bet for all the things you are looking to do. Check out post properties, they have a few communities in the midtown area, one is literally next to the park-public transit( MARTA ) is a just a couple of blocks away.

Yeah I'd like a one bedroom, MARTA is a convenience, but not necessary (I've been told that traffic to and from work wouldn't be terrible from piedmont park to the airport, correct?)

MARTA goes directly into the airport. Depending on what time of the day, the traffic from Midtown to the airport is not that bad.

Check out these websites for information regarding Midtown:

Good luck!

I would seriously encourage you to check out Inman Park/Old Fourth Ward--specifically the neighborhoods off of Highland Ave between Glen Iris/Randolph St and Virginia Avenue (which is the Virginia-Highland neighborhood). These neighborhoods are along Freedom Park, which has a lengthy jogging trail that connects to other parks, offer a number of apartment complexes that are within your price range and offer convenience as you get to know the city more, are pretty laid back with laid back bars, and above all are filled with young people.

You can also check with promove.com which is a service many on here have used who are pretty good at hooking folks up with places that meet their criteria. Just tell them exactly what type of places you want to live near, and ask for a place near a MARTA rail station. With $1100 you might also be able to get a decent 2BR apartment, and hey, there's no law that says people who are living together have to share a 1BR.. trust me... an extra bedroom for personal space use by either/or extends the relationship longer. lol
