By "in the Atlanta area" do you mean Atlanta itself? The metro area radiates in a 20-30 mile radius around the central city. Most of the areas mentioned are relatively close in, at least relative to other parts of the metro.

You need to have the job first before considering where to live. The Atlanta area is huge and commute time should help narrow down areas to live. Also, you need to consider the individual needs of your children in order to find a compatible school district. As far as Walton HS, if your student is "average" it may not be the best school.

We live in Milton. The schools here are excellent. But, Milton real estate is a little higher priced than surrounding areas. I have never heard anything negative about the schools in Roswell. Roswell has a great recreation department, as does Alpharetta.

My eldest is currently doing grad school at GSU. It takes him about 75 minutes to get to school in the am, leaving at 8:00. If he can leave later, it is 45 minutes. The traffic is more of an issue in Alpharetta and Roswell than it is once he hits 400.

While this is true, the primary and middle schools that feed Walton do a great job preparing you to succeed at Walton and beyond. If your children are young, I do not see this as an issue, as they will be amply prepared by the time high school rolls around.

Walton Alumnus here, if you couldn't already tell.
