My husband and I may be re-locating to Atlanta from Downingtown, PA. My husband is an External Wholesaler and his office would be from our home but would travel all around Atlanta so our location in Atlanta doesn't really matter but somewhat close to highways that would get him all around Atlanta.

We are expecting our first child so school districts are very important to us. I am a teacher, but not planning on teaching for a while when we have our child. I would like to know if teaching jobs are easy to come by in these suburbs.

Our price range is $450,000 - $550,000 (maybe more)

Here is a list of what we are looking for:
1. School Districts
2. Variety of Activities - Shopping, Golf (we both play), Swimming,
Fishing, Trails, etc.
3. Young families that we could become friends with since we do not
know anyone in Atlanta
4. Specific develops that may be on a golf course or have community
pools.
5. Nice downtown feel
6. Restaurants
7. Children Activities

I am hearing Cobb County and Gwinnett County? Is that right? If so, specific town or cities in those counties.

Thanks for your help,
Julie

If you guys dig golf, North Atlanta (Alpharetta) is where the nicer courses are. Can join clubs now semi reasonably because of the economy.

Since you put schools at the top of your list I would suggest looking into the Eastern part of Cobb which is called East Cobb. I'm not sure about golf developments there. Johns Creek, Alpharetta and Milton have great schools as well. Crooked Creek in Milton and Windward in Alpharetta are golf communities and within the 450-550K price range. Not all of Gwinnett has good schools. They have some good pockets but I would stick with the above first. Suwanee is a nice part of Gwinnett. Edinburgh is a golf neighborhood there within your budget also. I haven't been in that development in a while so maybe someone from that area can chime in on how it's been in recent years.
