Hi all. Appreciate all help in advance. Looking for a fun night on the town in Atlanta with my wife. We are a mid-30's couple with 4 kids, so suffice it to say, we're "out of touch" with the hip nightlife. Would love to have a night of dancing and letting loose. Something casual or relaxed would be best with a clientele around our age group (sorry, nothing against the college crowd ). But definitely want an energetic atmosphere where we can mingle with lots of others. We generally prefer 80's, 90's, or top40 type music. Not too much into rap or techno. Any place in metro Atlanta would be fine. Also, let me know if there is a nice hotel around to complete the evening. Thanks again!

Come on everybody. I'm sure someone has some advise, even if it's bad advice . Anyone ever been to the club called Sanctuary? It looked interesting from what I found on the internet. Please help a fellow Atlantan out.

I have never been/heard of the club called Sanctuary.

I honestly do not know of a specific venue that might meet your criteria.

In threads about 'Night Life' I have heard others say the jazz and food at 'Six Feet Under'--in the Candler Park/East Atlanta area are good.

You could pick up a Creative Loafing and try to find recs that way.

Thanks TakeAHike. I appreciate it. Creative Loafing idea is a good one. I'll see what I can find.

From the link, noticed the club called The Vault. Anyone have any comments on it?

Any other tips or comments are welcome.

Thanks again!

I would just head to Midtown. That way you can bar/club hop from all the places on Cresent Street to Halo a couple blocks away. There are two new hotels in the area The Palomar and The Loews. The Palomar has been voted by the AJC readers as having the best lounge/bar for hotels.

I think the key is going to a place where you can park your car and walk, so if you don't like one place you can go to another.

Take her for drinks at the St. Regis...dinner too...then maybe head down to Opera on Crescent. Supposed to be a good vibe...

Thanks Archan. What is the crowd like in Midtown? Thought it was more of the college and early 20 somethings.

I'll keep that in mind MJM. But then again, I did say I want her to have fun too . JK

Midtown has changed quite a bit over the last few years, though make note if you go somewhere where all of the women have Adam's Apples, you might have stumbled into the wrong place. lol : Overall though, it's a mixed crowd in the area with older "spillover" crowds/couples from surrounding neighborhoods filtering in to many of the establishments in that area in the evenings. The closer you get to the Tech area the younger the crowd gets, but I doubt you're going to take her to a pizza place, though.
