Have you eaten at Scalini's in Smyrna? That's the best Italian I think I've had in the Atlanta metro, not that I'm a connoisseur or anything.

Welcome to Scalini's! - Fine Italian Dining!

A few of my favorites:

For Thai -- Chaba Thai (Johns Creek)
For Chinese & Sushi -- Pearl Lian (Johns Creek)
For Italian -- Trattoria 141 (Johns Creek). It's so small, you almost miss it from the street. But it's packed every night, even though no kids are allowed (except Sunday). You MUST get a reservation or you're out of luck.
For South Indian -- Toss up between Sri Krishna Villas (Winward section of Alpharetta) and Udipi Cafe (Duluth)

Haven't tried it, but I will now that I saw their menu on that link. Looks good.

Han Il Kwan and Pung Mi on Buford Hwy.

Most of the Koreans dine around Duluth now.

Other great local eateries:

Alon's Bakery

The Brick Store Pub (good food AND beer)

Cafe Intermezzo

EATS on Ponce

Joli Kobe in Sandy Springs

Mediterranean Grill (one near Emory, one near Piedmont Park... and one in Marietta now)

Six Feet Under

I'd list more but those are the first ones that come to mind right now.

Cafe Alsace in Decatur is a delight. Keep in mind that this is Alsatian cuisine, not French...an authentic experience.

Ha ha. I'm an actual native Atlantan, believe it or not, so I just don't know any better

I am now thinking of more stuff:

Agave

Cheyenne Grill (and Hudson Grill) are actually good (considering they are sports bars)

Taverna Plaka on Cheshire Bridge

Top Spice

On another note, my husband LOVES Boneheads in Peachtree Battle but that's more of his opinion. Every time we walked or drove by it, he'd want to stop in there for some reason. And now, he's suggesting the Tofu House, just outside I-285.
