Found one today in Gwinnett across from the Mall of Georgia.
Parma!
First I thought it was an Indian place, then maybe a Drew Carey buddy, then cheese. Dumb of me to forget about Parma, Italy.
Owners are from Boston via Italy.
Darn good food.

Parma Tavern

Any others to share folks?

There is good grub in the Atlanta area outside of pre prepped chains. You just have to find them.

I'm pretty certain, we had a topic on here with food finds in the area that everyone was contributing too...

I may have to pay this one a visit...

There are many, but dated.
With the economy placing pain on many independent establishments I thought I would start anew.

It's a shame that so many good places have closed.

Maybe this can help bring some needed commerce to the survivors.

Would love the insider's opinions on Chinese/Korean food along Buford Highway and Chamblee. Am always afraid to try a new place there!

You should definitely check out Buford Highway when you get the chance. Just about every Asian restaurant on there is very authentic, the best you will find in the ATL.

My entry would be Giovanni's Restaurant in Austell. It's on the East/West connector in a small shopping center just to the side of BJ's Warehouse club, on the left, as you approach Powder Springs Road in West Cobb.

Smaller strip mall place, but the owner is actually from Italy originally (moved here from Boston a few years back), and much of the food is cooked in a more traditional Italian way than our Americanized versions. In the $12-$15 entree price range. Very nice owner/employees, and for those who like to eat early on Sunday, they open at 10am that day! Woohoo.

They don't seem to have a direct web site, but here's one review site of it: Giovanni's Italian Restaurant - Austell, GA, 30106 - Citysearch , and their Facebook page: Giovanni's Restaurant | Facebook
