I like how the state of Georgia gives parents of teens some options, with opportunities for either hands-on-effort or out-of-pocket expenditure.

Our family elected for the online course (cost $55) plus completion of the full "40 Hour Parent/Teen Driving Guide". The 40 hour parent-led course is very comprehensive and a big commitment, but we worked our way through it over the course of a year.

The teen is about to take her license test next week! I'll report back on how that goes.

One more thing - although we didn't send our teen to Driver's Ed, we did take her to an Accident Avoidance Workshop, which included a half-day in the car, practising emergency braking and steering. This was a PTA-sponsored offering that's from a local Cobb County provider. We thought it was very valuable and I recommend it highly.
