I am considering a move to Atlanta, and my place of work will be up near PDK. I don't mind a longer commute (30-45 min) so what are some recommendations for areas to look into for someone in their late 20's?

1. Budget : Rental around $700-$1200 (One bed room, Two Bed / Studio)
2. House/Condo/Townhome? : House/Loft/Condo
3. Employment Status(commute/work from home) : Near PDK
4. Children(public school vs. private) : None.
5. Suburban or Urban lifestyle preference or a mix of the two : Urban
6. Easy access to public transit, important or not? : Yes, Marta
7. Preferable demographics of desired neighborhood. : no pref

I would recommend the Brookhaven area, which is only about a mile from PDK. Brookhaven is next to Buckhead, which would be great if you're single; it also has plenty of housing options in your price range.
From PDK, turn left onto Clairmont then right on Dresden...when you reach Peachtree, you're in the heart of Brookhaven.

I'll probably be centering on mid-town area. How is the commute going northbound out of the city towards PDK? I would imagine not too bad.

Yes, pretty easy. You'd probably be doing a reverse commute up I-85 and exiting at Clairmont Road. PDK is about 1.5 - 2 miles north of the exit on Clairmont.

I just moved to Gables Century Center (right in the area) and LOVE it...google if if you're interested - and the rent is in the price range you're looking for.

I've decided against midtown for now since I'm having a difficult time finding a place to my liking. But, I did find a nice place in three areas below:

Castleberry Area (Loft/Townhomes)
Midtown West (MWest townhomes)
Highlands area (N. Highland STeel area)

For a late 20's SWM, what would you suggest for not crazy nightlife, but moderate, and within walking distance to a few good quality restaurants/bars. Also, I commute to the Chamblee area but ok with a 20-30 minute commute.

Thanks!
