Definitely give a thumbs up for Plaza Midtown, as having the Publix on the bottom floor is a huge plus, especially considering you dont have to leave your building! THere are also a couple restaurants/bars attached below so you can walk right down and relax for a happy hour drink or jump on marta basically across the street and go where ever your heart desires!

Plaza Midtown is nice in terms of convenience but having a friend who rents a condo there, I can tell you that crime is a substantial issue there. So check into that before committing to the place.

I know you said you wanted a one bedroom, but in that price range you can get a 2 BR/2.5bath townhome/condo in the howell mill area. I used to live in a gate community on Defoors Ave that was very nice. I would check that area out too.

I used to live in Plaza Midtown and thought it was amazing. Having a Publix an elevator ride away (especially if you are in the 44 Peachtree Place building since the elevator puts you steps away from the entrance) cannot be overrated. The gym and pool are great - and I just saw a 1br/1ba on a high floor (13th) listed in the $150s!! IMHO the best deal around.

Be sure to sit in on neighborhood community meetings to see what the top issues are in your prospective home. And make sure you are comfortable with the community leadership.
