Hey there,
I'm a single 26 year old woman moving to Atlanta from Baltimore, MD. I'm looking to rent an apartment, and willing to spend about $1000/mo. on rent. Despite Baltimore's reputation, one thing I loved about the city was its originality and authenticity--few chain restaurants, lots of independent coffee shops, great music and arts scene, and a real sense of community there. Any neighborhoods in Atlanta that could provide a similar feel? I'd also like to be in an area with other young folks around. I've read posts about L5P, Inman Park, and Cabbagetown--would those be good places to start? Thanks in advance!

Those are great places to begin your search. Be sure to add Candler Park to the list too.

maybe consider the following too...

Grant Park, Lake Claire, Kirkwood, Old Fourth Ward, perhaps parts of Edgewood, East Atlanta Village(EAV), Ormewood Park, Oakhurts.

Some folks like the west, like parts of West End, but that place seems trashy and still not there yet in my opinion.
