At $400/month, you'll either need to share a place with a roommate, or where a bulletproof vest to bed.

That pretty much sums it up.

Did you know that Sandy Springs is one of the more affluent suburbs of Atlanta?

One place comes to mind but $400 would be low for even this particular area.

Does the school offer any assistance with housing?

What school is in Sandy Springs?

You'll be hard pressed to find anything in that range.

I'd look to rent a basement room or some similar set up. No apartments in the area for that cheap.

I am a Sandy Springs/Buckhead native and can tell you that the only place you'll find under $400/month will be featured on the news nightly (not a good thing).

Sandy Springs is accessible by Marta (our public transportation). Try looking up Marta routes and find some other areas to look. Look around Dunwoody (which may be a bit but not much cheaper than Sandy Springs) or the Brookhaven/Doraville area.
