If people vote yes for the 1% sales tax for transportation, then it probably makes sense to combine all heavy rail into one authority (perhaps keeping bus per-county). MARTA should probably be renamed to something more flashy.

Does anyone have any ideas for a new flashy name for MARTA?

You have GRTA and MARTA. Combine 'em....GARTA but MARTA still makes sense to me. It already incorporates Metropolitan in the name.

Just rename one of the two for all the counties.

Goodbye CCT, GCT and C-Tran.

My recommendation...

Just mat (Metro Atlanta Transit).

mat
Metro Atlanta Transit

And then it can be used throughout the system for various modes of public transportation:

matbus
matrail (for Heavy/Light Rail Lines)
matX (for Express Buses).
matshuttle
mattram (for Trolley/Tram Routes)

matbus
matrail
matX
matshuttle
mattram

And the commuter rail network for Metro Atlanta and points just beyond, should be called CRONG (Commuter Rail of North Georgia).

mat
CRONG

(Metro Atlanta Transit)

Simple, yet smooth.

ATLRail.

Or RATL (RailAtlanta), pronounced "Rattle."

Either combine everyone into GRTA or leave it as is as MARTA, since people who are afraid or hate transit still will not ride it no matter what the name is.

Mat and Art work.

I guess, we will have allocate money for new bus colors (marta is white and black, CCT is blue, GCT is red and GRTA is white, blue and green)

Considering 1/3 of the MARTA fleet already have red Xs anyway, repainting may already be necessary

On a serious note, I personally don't believe that bus transit should be merged. Only rail should be. The counties can manage their own bus feeder patterns for rail.
