If I leave Douglasville at 8:00AM on a workday how bad is the traffic on I-20E going to be? Can I make it downtown in an 45min-1hr?

Thanks

I drive the opposite way and there is no traffic but to go inbound looks ugly most days but I would imagine an hour would cover it most days.

Several of my co-workers do that commute, and an hour will cover you on most days, even with some minor rain/accident issues.

It's very bad. Some days an hour will suffice but on some(many) others it will take abouut 40 minutes just to reach 285. There's almost always an accident on 20 and for some reason it seems to be like a spectator sport with everybody slowing down to look like they've never seen an accident before. This is even the case when it's off to the side or if someone is just pulled over.

Depends on where you are in Douglasville. Douglasville is a big city. But as far as getting on I-20, on a normal day from these ramps:

Post Rd appx 65 mins
Hwy 5 appx 55 mins
Chapel Hill appx 50 mins
Fairburn Rd appx 40 mins
Lee Rd appx 30 mins

Your biggest hang up will be at the I-285 interchange. As a rule, traffic on I-20 actually moves faster in the RIGHT lane during rush hour until you get close to the I-285 interchange where you will want to switch to the far left lane. Also, if you are going downtown get off I-20 at the exits for downtown like Windsor/Spring or Capital Ave and go on the surface streets from there. DO NOT try to ramp onto the 75/85 Connector because you will be there like for eternity.
Also if you do not want to drive, there are express busses, park and rides and the Douglas Van Pool.

I don't know where Post Rd is but I'm off of Hwy 5 and have never yet been further West than that. Is that the next exit beyond exit 34 which is Hwy 5?

Yes. It is the last Douglasville exit going west. Douglasville is a very large city that has vastly grown due to annexation in the last 10 years. Used to be that Fairburn Rd was the first westbound exit for Douglasville. Now the City of Douglasville extends all the way east to Thornton Rd which is the Cobb County line.

Used to be. Lithia Springs ceased to be a legal city a few years back. While it is a mailing address, some of it is in unincorporated Douglas County and some of it is in Douglasville- mainly because commercial establishments requested annexation so they could continue to sell alcohol after the city of Lithia Springs ceased. Had the businesses such as Kroger, Applebees and Ruby Tuesdays on Thornton Rd been left in unincorporated Douglas County they would have been forced to cease alcohol sales. The Douglasville Police regularly patrol that section of Thornton Rd
