Hi I am a Georgia Tech graduate student and I plan to rent a studio or 1 bed apt. Here are some of my specifications:

1, budget is 33% of my monthly gross income(1800), so it is around 500-700$
2, prefer 1bd1br or studio
3, commute from school to home
4, single and no dependent
5, no requirement for life style.
6, I drive by myself, so no need of public transit. and it is ok for me to live a little bit further from school(like even outside I-285).
7, not quite sure, I can live with old ages or young men. Just dnt too noisy.

Some more preference: apartment should not be quite beside highway, because it is really noisy when you come out of house. Not too old property(best built after 2000). Controlled access will make me feel safe. Community size is not a big deal, but it is better to have some smaller community.

Well I have looked into some apartment communities manged by Archstone. They do have some nice places(like Archstone at Decatur Cross), but sadly no desired room available atm. I have some knowledge about other companies like lane company, gable, post. Can you suggest me some more decent property company like those? Also, if you have some positive appearance at certain apartment, please share with me so I can take a look.

Thanks.

So the area in which you prefer to reside is Decatur?

Check out some of the newer apartment complexes around GT - but I definitely second the promove people. There are some brand new ones - I forget the name of - at Westside - off of Howell Mill Road that are brand new and affordable.

Since you have a car, I would recommend staying out of the Homepark neighborhood - especially since you are looking for something newer. I would not recommend Lane Apartments (they seem to be very noisy to me). I had friends who lived at Post properties and seemed to like it (it has been a couple of years since they left, though).

I would NOT recommend living outside of 285. The farthest would be right at the perimeter - just for convenience to Tech.

Interested in a very cheap share with a Phd student at GSU. Spacious house and 550 a month, share utilities. Great location for GSU...and safe, near decatur square. I could do no deposits for fellow students! Give you some time to look from a safe place or stay the time for the internship...I am flexible
