I am native to So. California, and love it here, but want to leave because I can no longer afford to live here. I have 3 places I'm considering so far: Denver, Atlanta & Phoenix. It is hard to decide where to move, because I've never even been in snow (don't laugh!), so I don't know what to expect if I had to live/drive in it. But is it worse than living in a place like AZ, where it gets to 110 degrees? Or Atlanta, where the humidity is bad? The heat in Cali is a dry heat, and can get to well over 100. At that point, I'm none-to-happy. But I've never delt with humidity or snow. Which is the worse of the 3 evils...snow, heat, humidity? And there is trying to find a place with the right weather, yet has affordable housing, good job market and low crime. Statistics show that Atlanta's surrounding cities have higher crime rates than the surrounding cities of Denver & Phoenix. Are there neighborhoods that are consider very safe?

Don't feel bad....I have never seen snow either and I am well into my thirties.....if you do not mind the snow.....than you won't mind colorado....but if I had to choose and was free to move....I'd choose Atlanta out of the 3. This is a sentimental answer, but I guess a good advice would be for you to know exactly what you want and where you can find it. (things sunch as a good job, good enterainement palces, goo eats....etc.)

Default Visit other city-data forums

and ask the posters about employment, housing, weather/climate and how they like living in the particular area.

I read a post a few days ago that said the heat/100 degree temps of AZ were not as bad as the humidity and heat of the SE.

I think it is expensive to live in Denver, CO --very beautiful and many say the 'ambience' is mellow...exceptional quality of life.

Research employment in your field in each location and know what it will take to maintain a comfortable lifestyle and develop a new network of friends--very important wherever you live.

Atlanta is closer to SC and there are some very nice places to live and work--you could come and visit.

Lawrenceville, Suwanee, Cumming, Alpharetta and Smyrna/Marietta are good places to live and work in metro Atlanta. The caveat around here is 'Live close to your place of employment'... No one enjoys the gridlock traffic inherent to the ever growing sprawl of the metro area.
