The Castle (note capitalization) is only about two miles from where I live, and I pass it all the time. I have never seen anyone there either. But that fable is false, or at least I'm pretty sure I saw an article in the paper, maybe last year, about this home.

Seems the owner is of Scottish descent and his ancestors had a castle in Scotland (maybe Irish/Ireland, memory is fuzzy) and he wanted to honor his heritage or something like that as well as have something unique. I guess he accomplished both.

There are no homes really adjacent to it so the matter of it affecting property values doesn't really come up. It is also adjacent to or very near a huge tract of land -dozens of acres- owned by Ted Turner -- but not sure if he still owns it. Being the largest landowner in the US and possibly the world, ol' Ted probably doesn't worry about this postage stamp too much.

It is, as you can imagine, somewhat of a landmark and serves a useful purpose in giving people directions. All delivery people, realtors, service folk etc. know The Castle. As its neighbors, in a manner of speaking, we actually regard it fondly. It may have been built to honor a foreign heritage but in its uniqueness, kitsch and sheer balls (no one else would ever want to own it), it is a great piece of Americana.

Here's a slight segue that I want to throw into this conversation: I heard that there was a miniature version of the U.S. Capitol's White House in Metro Atlanta. Can someone tell me where? If possible, post pictures!

What's funny is that there is another castle on Briarcliff, just down from the 'White House' mentioned.

Just drove by the castle (on way to Crabapple for dinner) and I saw the diving board off of the little castle house that I had missed before. I have to say the place is growing on me- it seems very well kept up and totally in character in every way. Quite charming, especially compared to the newer "castles" on Cox and King Rds. What about the Chateau Tivoli on King?
