Hi, I just moved to Atlanta from NYC where good barbershops can be found on practically every city block, usually priced at $12 for a basic cut.

I grew up in Raleigh and have spent 7 years off and on in Atlanta. I have never been able to find a decent barbershop in either town.

I am a white 41 year old looking for a good barbershop sorta close to downtown, midtown, buckhead. I don't have a car yet, so I'm dependent on walking and public transportation.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Haven't been to these guys but there's a barbershop in the lindbergh city center complex, which has its own marta stop "lindbergh center." According to their website a basic cut is $15 and they can cut any hair type. 71 Barber Shop

The oldest, most "traditional" barbershop I know of is the Peachtree Battle Barber Shop in the Peachtree Battle shopping center (at Peachtree Battle Avenue and Peachtree Street in Buckhead). I've been going there for 35 years (since I was a kid). I pay $20 (which includes a decent tip).

There's a barber shop inside the Healey Building downtown.

There is one on Cheshire Bridge Road that I know that several people go to.
