Hi guys,

My wife and I are looking to move from Garden Hills (in Atlanta) within the next few months. We currently live close to AIS and love our location and neighborhood but we're reaching that point in our life where with young kids, things like schools are increasingly important. We're looking at some suburbs further north and I'd love it if you guys could give your thoughts and ideas:

1. I work on Peachtree and my wife will stay at home. My commute now is great. How much of a commute can I expect from different parts of East Cobb or North Fulton?

2. We'd like to keep the house price around 700k but can go all the way up to 850k if we find the perfect place. Older house is just fine but a basement would be preferred. A neighborhood with many kids and at least some stay at home moms would be great as well.

3. Schools - our main motivation for moving. I've heard a lot of great things about Walton in Cobb but I'd like to know a little more about Pope, Lassiter, Roswell, Riverwood and their feeder schools from posters on here. I have two young kids so schools where the entire cluster is good would be ideal.

4. Shopping. Are there any Whole Foods or Trader Joe's in these areas? We currently frequent the one on W. Paces Ferry and it has met all our dietary needs so proximity to another would be a huge plus.

We'd be open to other areas but these are the areas that everyone has told us to focus on. Any comments are appreciated!

Have you considered Buckhead? Perhaps not Garden Hills Elementary School, but I do hear goog things about it from some folks, but what about Smith, Jackson etc.

Sutton Middle is on a upward swing. North Atlanta is also on an upward swing and everyone I know who actually attends North Atlanta likes it. They are very pleased with the IB programme there. I know many young families in Buckhead who are planning on public k-12.

I think that the Buckhead elementary schools are fabulous and compare well (if not better) to most other metro elementary schools.
