Good news. My fiancee lives in Hudson Trace and I drove by those vacant buildings every day. They're nice buildings too... I guess ADP outgrew their old building so fast they had to move? It's basically a brand spanking new building.

I wonder what type of work GER is offering. I drive by there all the time since I'm up the road (literally). That'd be really convenient. Heck, I could even walk to work and not have to waste gas since it keeps fluctuating so much. It's exciting to see new businesses and competition popping up. I'd say our local economy is definitely on an upward trend now. Good stuff!

All right, so I did a little research on GER and found out more about this ubiquitous business entity (keep hearing about them but no one seems to know exactly what they do)... They basically provide various types of information systems and technical support for the healthcare industry. They seem to provide two main flavors for their services: software platforms and hardware platforms. Their specialization seems to be with patient and asset tracking. The computer/handheld portion of their business is mainly of a partnership/reseller capacity, apparently. Looks very interesting.

They're looking for people with IT or CS backgrounds and exposure to the medical field. Naturally, sales and marketing people are key as well. Here's more info, straight from the source...

I saw people coming in and out of the building today... Im guessing they're probably close to a official opening... 200 will be hired this year, and the other 200 in 2011...

Centers brighten job picture | The Augusta Chronicle
Training has begun for 26 new employees at the Convergent ERS facility on Stevens Creek Road. If all goes as planned, the Atlanta-based company will employ 400 people by the end of 2011.

Other companies are discussed in the article....

T-Mobile.... has a total of 400 workers and will hire 350 more

Teleperformance..... 100 workers and will hire 225 more

Automatic Data Processing... 600 workers and will hire 400 more.. I don't if the number includes their 2nd facility coming soon..
