I"m not from Augusta, but since I'm moving there soon I've been able to gather a lot of facts on the city. But the one thing I want to know is how is the ethnic distribution, i.e. white, black, hispanic, etc? I imagine some areas are largely one group, whereas other areas are more diverse. The one area I looked at (the Pepperidge area south of town) seems to be exclusively black, and another area west of town was mostly white. I imagine most other areas are in-between, but I don't know where.

Can anyone who knows the city elaborate? Thanks.

AHAHAHA! That is by far the BEST map I have ever seen. I especially like the 'WTF' zone and the 'Very Yellow Area', although the area just above the words Ft Gordon Hwy should be labelled that as well.

hmm... ok... total outsider here

I would reccomend using the NYT Mapping American Project. It will also show density as well as diversity.

Some of what it shows will uphold that map, but some of it will dispute it... as that "very yellow" area looks very close to being 50-50 to me.

There does seem to be a big north-south divide though.

Mapping America ? Census Bureau 2005-9 American Community Survey - NYTimes.com

The starting map will be NYC. You will need to tell it go to Augusta. Hover your mouse pointer over a census tract and it will provide detail percentages. You can also click the 'view more maps' button for different views.

Is there any way to show just what's to the left of this map? I'm looking at something just off the map (west), and it would be nice to know this area, also. Just south of I-20 and west of Bobby Jones Expressway. Not as far as Grovetown, though.

Thanks.

Tricon if you look in google maps in the Ariel portion of their maps and do a birds eye view and statelite views it will give an area to zoom around and get a basics where the road, shopping etc is located in relevance to the property you maybe interested in.the "streetview" function is very useful in trying to visualize and area your never seen before. I play nosey parker often on that feature =) that area is consider Northern or west Ausguta area. Might want to check and see if the home you choose is Richmond or Columbia County school district.. if you look on the Mapping America ? Census Bureau 2005-9 American Community Survey - NYTimes.com map it and scroll in it will show you more detailed information..remember put in the search box the address or the Martinez, Evans, or Grove town, GA in it so it will zoom in. Area your inquiring is Martinez

Also another useful link you might want to look into:Columbia County, Georgia

for some info on local attractions. try the local Gov website for Columbia County Columbia County : Home
