The baseball stadium, retail, hotel, restaurant, and condo facility will go on the 2012 ballot..

I guess we have to wait until next year to know the final outcome. Both Cal Ripken and Jim Jacoby being involved in the project is a huge plus...

Commissioner Joe Jackson is putting the mix-use project on the agenda in two weeks in hopes of getting enough support..

Wayne Guilford announced today he's changing his vote from earlier in the week.. Mr. Guilford is intrested in hearing from the Ripken Group concerning the final cost and estimates.. This means the majority of commissioners are behind letting the city administrator explore options..

The multi-purpose facility will gain extra steam once more citizens realize it's not the typical baseball stadium..

Augusta inched closer to a possible new stadium-condominium complex home for the Augusta GreenJackets tonight, with the Augusta Commission voting 6-3-1 to "develop a transaction plan, not site specific, relative to the proposed Ripken Multipurpose Stadium."

Ripken Baseball continues pitches for new Augusta ballpark | Future Ballparks

Thought I'd post the above links to refresh everybody's memory.

There are somethings I would like to see happen before the stadium is built.
1) Ripken, Jacoby, and the city are able to sell the naming rights for the stadium/complex. How about Club Car stadium or Textron Complex?
2) Jacoby is able to secure retailers before the property is built. Even if he's only able to convince Bass Pro to come to the complex, I'd still call it a win.
3) They must have a tenant for the office space.
4) The group must actively pursue and secure events.

I might be asking for a lot, but we're talking about a 40 mil, maybe 50 mil, stadium/complex for a low single A team.

Actually, in this economy... I don't think that's asking alot Magician. It would be great to have that downtown (the traffic excuse given in the video by the lady with her kids is a lame one) on the river. All efforts should be exhausted to make sure this is done right from day one with all the bases being covered... ZING!

I've noticed a lot of the newer minor league parks have resorted to selling the naming rights of their stadiums. This is something that should definitely be considered if it is ultimately built. Somebody place a call to the Augusta National... Greenjacket Park at Amen Corner? Sounds like a winner to me.

The great Ty Cobb was a member of the Augusta Tourist, maybe we could name the stadium after him. That would be two legends with intimate relationships with the Garden City, TY Cobb and James Brown.
