I will be in Augusta on an upcoming weekend with my two daughters, ages 3 and 7 while my wife works. Can anyone recommend something fun to do with the kids on a Saturday?

Hmmmm. you're talking about Augusta.. fun things to do? Maybe you should consider driving to Atlanta or Columbia, SC. (Atlanta has the GA Aquarium and Columbia has a nice zoo)
There is sort of a little mini amusement park on the westside of Augusta.. you can see it from I20.. I believe you can access it via the wheeler Rd or Belair Rd exit (it has gocarts.. bumper cars.. things like that).. there are also a few putt putt places... one at washington and Baston Rds in Martinez..
There is a dinky science museum in downtown but usually the exhibits don't work. About the most fun Augusta experiences is when the fair comes to town, but I think that is over. Update us after your trip and tell us about your experience in Augusta.

just don't go downtown at night... not a lot of lighting and except for special events there's not a lot of foot traffic.. The few restaurants and shops that are there are sort of spread out. Augusta's downtown is very awkward..it's basically one long strip (broad street) that's about a mile and had long...some blocks have managed to draw in new restaurants and shops.. but there are long gaps.. it doesn't have a flow that other downtowns (like Athens) have. You will find a Mellow Mushroom(pizza place) in downtown Augusta.. good place to take kids for lunch. But I doubt young kids are going to find much interesting in downtown Augusta, there are several bars and strip clubs though.
The place off I20 I mentioned earlier is called Funsville.. that probably is your best bet for kids in Augusta. Downtown is worth a drive through.. just don't expect too much.. Augusta is not an Athens or Savannah.

PLZ go downtown at night, thats when all the ppl are walking around. At night there is hundreds or thousands of ppl walking down the streets. Ppl will be coming out of the bars, clubs, or resturants all night. Augusta downtown has added alot of new shops and things for kids to do. Im sure they will have some activities lined up near the riverwalk for kids

There used to be a children's science museum thing.. I think? It was a about 13 years ago that I went down to Augusta for a Girl Scout lock-in at some kind of children's museum. I'm not sure if it still exists.

The place "disgusta" is referring to is now called Adventure Crossing. There are also a few parades going on, and Columbia County is lighting there Christmas tree.

It still exists from what I understand, but many of the exhibits were not functional when I last visited. It was some pork barrel project of some state senator who ended up being convicted on federal fraud charges. After he was sent to prison and a new governor came into power (perdue), funding for the museum was scaled back significantly. The state also cut off funding of another Augusta pork barrel project, The Augusta Golf and Gardens, last I heard it was closed and all of the plants had died from lack of water... nice waste of over $20 million in tax money Augusta!
